Introduction

Bangladesh Railway (BR) is the state-owned railway company that operates the railway system in Bangladesh. The company operates both passenger and freight trains, connecting major cities and towns throughout the country. However, the current system for booking tickets and obtaining information about train schedules and routes can be confusing and time-consuming for users. In an effort to improve the user experience and make the system more efficient, BR has decided to develop an integrated transportation system website.

Background

The current system for booking tickets and obtaining information about train schedules and routes is outdated and confusing for users. The process requires users to visit a physical railway station, wait in long lines, and fill out paper forms. The website for BR is also outdated and difficult to navigate, making it hard for users to find the information they need. Furthermore, the website is not mobile-friendly, making it difficult for users to access the information they need while on the go.

Objective

The objective of this project is to design a user-friendly and efficient website for the Bangladesh Railway integrated transportation system. The website should be easy to navigate and understand, with clear and concise information about train schedules, routes, and ticket booking. The website should also be mobile-friendly, so users can access the information they need while on the go.

User Research

The first step in the design process was to conduct user research to understand the needs and pain points of the target users. The research consisted of interviews with potential users, as well as observations of their behavior and interactions with the current system.

The research revealed that the main pain points for users were the long wait times at railway stations and the confusing process for booking tickets. Users also expressed a desire for more information about train schedules and routes, as well as the ability to book tickets online.

Design

Based on the research findings, the website was designed with the following features:

2. An online ticket booking system

3. A mobile-friendly design

4. Easy navigation

The website was designed with a clean and modern layout, with a focus on simplicity and ease of use. The navigation was designed to be intuitive, with clear labels and links to the most important pages. The color scheme was chosen to be calming and easy on the eyes, with a mix of blue and white.

The homepage of the website features a simple and clean design, with a search bar for finding train schedules and routes. Users can also find links to the ticket booking system and other important pages, such as the “Contact Us” page.

The train schedules and routes page is designed to be easy to read and understand, with clear and concise information about the different trains and their routes. Users can also filter the train schedules by departure and arrival time, making it easy to find the schedule that best suits their needs.

The online ticket booking system is designed to be simple and easy to use. Users can select their desired train and route, and then enter their personal information and payment details. The system also allows users to view their booking history and make changes to their booking if needed.

The website was also designed to be mobile-friendly, so users can access the information they need while on the go. The layout and design of the website were optimized for small screens, with a focus on simplicity and ease of use.
